Why choose BNE Lawyers

Three things clients tell us made the difference.

Senior lawyer on your file

You deal with an experienced lawyer from the first call, not a rotating queue of staff.

Advice you can act on

Plain language, written options and a clear recommendation — not a lecture on the law.

Trusted by the community

We act for families, small businesses and community groups across South East Queensland.

Where we work

Right here in Brisbane's south-west

We opened in Inala rather than the CBD because that is where our clients live and work. You can park outside, walk in, and be seen by the lawyer who will actually run your file — without taking half a day off to get into the city.

  • Inala
  • Durack
  • Richlands
  • Darra
  • Oxley
  • Forest Lake
  • Doolandella
  • Ellen Grove
  • Carole Park
  • Wacol
  • Sunnybank
  • Springfield

And across South East Queensland.

Courts we appear in

Richlands and Brisbane Magistrates Courts, the District and Supreme Courts of Queensland, the federal family law courts, QCAT and the Administrative Review Tribunal.

Appointments that fit your week

After-hours and weekend appointments for shift workers and people who cannot take leave, and phone or video conferences if you live further out.

Easy to get to

Free parking at the door and a short drive from the Ipswich Motorway — no CBD parking, no half day lost.

You should not have to explain your matter twice.

Most of our clients speak Vietnamese at home and English at work. A legal problem is hard enough without translating it as you go — so we do the whole matter in the language you are comfortable with.

  • Advice in your own language

Consultations, written advice, documents and court attendance in Vietnamese — you do not need to bring a family member to interpret.

  • Certified translations arranged

We arrange NAATI-certified translations for immigration and court documents, so nothing is rejected on a technicality.

  • We understand the context

Family sponsorship, property held in a relative's name, money sent home, businesses run by the whole family — situations that need explaining to a lawyer who has not seen them before.

Our process

How we work

Four commitments we make on every matter.

  1. 01

    1. Talk to us

A first conversation to understand the problem and whether we can help.

  2. 02

    2. Written plan & costs

You receive the options, the likely outcome and the fees in writing.

  3. 03

    3. We do the work

Documents drafted, applications lodged, negotiations run — with regular updates.

  4. 04

    4. Close it out

The result explained, the file closed properly and next steps set out.

What our clients say

Our partner visa had already been refused once before we came here. They went back through every piece of evidence with us, explained exactly why the first application failed, and rebuilt the file from scratch. Everything was explained in Vietnamese, which meant my husband understood the process for the first time.

L

Linh T.

Inala QLD - Partner visa

First home, and I had no idea what I was signing. The contract review came back the same week with a list of the clauses that actually mattered and what each one meant for me. Settlement went through without a single surprise.

D

David M.

Forest Lake QLD - Conveyancing

We put off making our wills for years because we thought it would be complicated and expensive. It took two appointments. They asked about our children, our house and the business, then set out the options in writing so we could take our time deciding.

H

Hoang & Mai

Durack QLD - Wills and estates

I was about to sign a five-year lease for my restaurant. They found two clauses that would have cost me badly at renewal and negotiated both out before I signed. The advice paid for itself many times over.

Q

Quoc B. Tran

Richlands QLD - Small business

I called on a Sunday after my son was charged and someone actually answered. We had advice before the police interview, not after it. Having a lawyer who could explain the whole thing to my parents in Vietnamese made an enormous difference.

Frequently asked questions

The questions we are asked most often, answered plainly. Anything specific to your matter is best discussed on a call.

What does the first appointment cost?

We tell you the cost of the first appointment when you book it, so there is no surprise. For many matters the first conversation is short and is about working out whether we can help and what it would involve.

What should I bring?

Photo identification, and any letter, notice or court document you have received. Bring what you have — an incomplete file is still better than none, and we will tell you what is missing. There is a checklist by matter type under Tools and Resources.

Can I be advised in Vietnamese?

Yes. Advice, documents and court attendance are all available in Vietnamese or English — whichever you are comfortable with. You do not need to bring an interpreter.

How long will my matter take?

It depends on the type of matter and on the other side. A conveyance usually runs 30 to 45 days; a straightforward will can be signed within two appointments; a contested family or immigration matter is measured in months. We give you a realistic range in writing at the start, and tell you when it changes.

How are fees calculated?

Fixed fee where the scope is predictable — a will, a conveyance, a straightforward application. Hourly where the work depends on what the other side does. Either way you receive a written costs disclosure before we start, including disbursements and GST.

Do you take appointments outside business hours?

Yes, by arrangement — including evenings and Saturdays for people who cannot take time off work. Where a matter is urgent, such as a police interview, we can be reached outside office hours.

I live interstate or overseas — can you still act for me?

For immigration matters, yes: they are federal, and we act for clients anywhere. For property, family and court matters the law is state-based, so the answer depends on where the property or the proceeding is. Call us and we will tell you straight away.

My visa was just refused — how long do I have?

Usually only days, not weeks. Most refusal decisions carry a right of review, but the deadline is short, strictly enforced, and runs from when the decision is taken to have been received — not when you read it. Check the date on the decision record and call us the same day.
